Organization Overview Reliability and Observability Engineer role reports into Technology team which is the backbone of our Organization, driving innovation, efficiency and reliability across all digital and operational platforms. Role Summary/ Purpose The AVP, Reliability and Observability Engineer will be responsible for improving the reliability, performance and availability of Infrastructure services. You will be responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining scalable infrastructure, automating operational tasks, and responding to incidents to minimize downtime. This position also focuses on building and maintaining tools and frameworks for monitoring, logging and alerting across the infrastructure and application layers. The candidate will possess a deep understanding of monitoring systems, incident response strategies and performance optimization techniques, ensuring services meet high standards of availability and resilience. Key Responsibilities Design, build and maintain scalable, highly available infrastructure in cloud and on-prem environmentsImplement Infrastructure as Code using tools like Terraform, Ansible or similar technologiesDevelop and maintain monitoring and alerting systems - NewRelic, Grafana, PrometheusImprove availability and performance for applications and infrastructure using observability toolsParticipate in troubleshooting and drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for critical incidentsAutomate repetitive tasks to improve operational efficiencyOptimize resource utilization to reduce costs while maintaining performanceWork closely with infrastructure teams to implement DevOps best practicesAssist in the design and implementation of CI/CD pipelinesImplement and maintain security best practices in the infrastructureEnsure systems comply with relevant regulatory requirements Qualifications & Requirements Minimum 6+ years of Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience or in lieu of a degree 8 + Years of relevant experience5+ years of experience with cloud platforms - AWS, Azure and GCP. Cloud certifications preferred.Knowledge of system architecture, understanding of distributed systems, familiarity with DevOps practicesExpertise in infrastructure automation tools - Terraform, Ansible, ChefProficiency in scripting/programming languages - Python, Ruby, BashUnderstanding of Linux/Unix and Windows systems and networking fundamentalsExperience with monitoring, logging and alerting tools - NewRelic, Splunk, PagerDuty, Grafana, PrometheusFamiliarity with containerization and orchestration - Pivotal Cloud Foundry, KubernetesKnowledge of database administration and optimization Desired Characteristics Demonstrated stakeholder focus – evaluates decisions through the eyes of the stakeholder; builds strong stakeholder relationshipsExperience working with cross regional teams around the globeRunning core operations, strategic planning, organizational communications, development programs and Project to Support process Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with strong communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and work in a remote environment Work Timings : 02:00 PM to 11:00 PM IST This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility and Choice offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally).
