10+yrs.Remote (Anywhere in India).The Senior Network Engineer is HIGHLY SKILLED in all areas of Network based technologies.This individual must have extensive background in Cisco. The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, planning and implementing high level as well as departmental projects with little or no supervision.Such projects include, but are not limited to, the configuration, installation and troubleshooting of routers, switches, wireless controllers and firewalls as well as implementation and support of Cisco Prime, Cisco Defense Orchestrator (CDO), DNA-Center (DNA-C), Solarwinds Orion along with other network related programs.Additionally, this position will be responsible to research, evaluate and recommend software, hardware or cloud technologies that will support business needs. Interaction with different business groups is essential within this role and requires an understanding of multiple business segments and ITs impact on their functions (e. Healthcare, LifeScience and Contract Sterilization, finance, regulatory and audit).
Role & Responsibilities :
- Strategic Network Architecture & Planning :
- Design, document, and maintain high-level network architecture for global enterprise environments.
- Conduct capacity planning and performance assessments to ensure network scalability and resilience.
- Participate in long-term infrastructure planning aligned with company business goals and digital transformation initiatives (e.g., cloud migrations, automation, AI integrations).
- Project Leadership & Delivery :
- Lead cross-functional network infrastructure projects from conception to completion with minimal - supervision.
- Develop project plans, timelines, and resource allocations to ensure timely and within-budget delivery.
- Interface with business stakeholders to gather requirements and align infrastructure solutions with
organizational needs.
- Network Operations and Incident Management :
- Serve as a Tier 3 escalation point for critical network incidents.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement permanent solutions to recurring issues.
- Lead or contribute to post-incident reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Security & Compliance :
- Ensure network infrastructure complies with corporate security policies and industry regulations (e.g., HIPAA, ISO 27001, SOC 2).
- Conduct periodic network security assessments and implement remediation plans.
- Collaborate with the cybersecurity team on threat detection, mitigation strategies, and security audits.
- Automation & Network Efficiency :
- Develop and deploy network automation scripts using Python, Ansible, or similar tools to reduce manual operations.
- Streamline configuration management, change controls, and compliance reporting through automated workflows.
- Integrate with orchestration tools such as Cisco DNA-C, CDO, or custom-built solutions.
Cloud Networking Integration (Desirable) :
- Contribute to the integration of hybrid and cloud-native networking solutions (e.g., AWS Transit Gateway, Azure ExpressRoute, VPN Gateway).
- Assist in SDN strategies and secure cloud connectivity.
Disaster Recovery And High Availability :
- Design and test disaster recovery solutions for critical network services.
- Implement HA mechanisms to minimize downtime (HSRP, VRRP, VSS, StackWise, redundant links).
- Regularly test failover and business continuity plans.
Performance Monitoring & Capacity Optimization :
- Continuously monitor network performance using tools like SolarWinds Orion, NetFlow, SNMP.
- Analyze traffic patterns and optimize routing, bandwidth usage, and QoS policies.
Skills Required :
LAN :
Must Have Hands-on Experience In :
- Layer 1 media fiber & copper connectivity.
- Layer 2 topologies Ether-channel, STP, VLAN & VTP, Port Security, dot1x implementation.
- Layer 2&3 protocols CDP,DTP & IP.
- Cisco Switch Models : Catalyst 3850, Catalyst 9000, Catalyst 4500, Catalyst 6800, Nexus 7k & 9k.OS Cisco IOS.
- Configuration, Installation, Troubleshooting & Support.
WAN :
Must have hands-on experience in :
- Layer 1 media fiber & copper connectivity.
- Layer 2 topologies PPP, MLPPP, & ELAN.
- Layer 3 protocols IP, MPLS.
- Routing Protocols EIGRP,OSPF,BGP.
- Configuration of WAN Routers.
- Troubleshooting WAN and Routing Issues alongside ISP.
- Security ACLs.
- Cisco Router Models : 1900, 2900, 3900, 4K and above models.
WLAN :
Must have hands-on experience in :
- Configuration of Cisco Embedded and Controller Models Architecture.
- Captive/Guest portal creation.
- Installation, Troubleshooting & :
Must Have Hands-on Experience In :
- Configuration, Implementation & Support.
- Upgrades.
- Cisco ASA, FTD 1k, 3k and higher models.
- FDM/FMC management skills.
SD-WAN Cisco Viptela :
- Must have knowledge & handson with Overlay, Underlay, OMP, BFD,TLOC, DTLS/TLS.
Data Center Networking :
- Must have knowledge & hands on with Configuration, Installation, Troubleshooting & Support.
- Software upgrades.
- OS Cisco NX-OS, DCNM.
- Cisco Switch Models : Nexus 9K product line.
