Job Title: Performance Architect - Monitoring and Tools

Job Summary

The Performance Architect specializing in Monitoring and Tools is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing performance monitoring solutions to ensure the optimal performance of applications and systems. This role involves creating strategies for effective monitoring, selecting and integrating performance tools, and leading application performance projects to ensure systems meet business and technical requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performance Monitoring Strategy: Develop and implement comprehensive performance monitoring strategies to proactively identify and address performance issues across all layers of the application stack.
  • Tool Selection and Integration: Evaluate, select existing tools and integrate performance monitoring and management tools to support both existing and new applications.
  • Application Performance Projects: Lead performance-focused projects, working closely with application development teams to ensure performance considerations are integrated from inception through deployment.
  • Customization and Automation: Customize monitoring tools to suit specific project needs and automate performance data collection and reporting processes.
  • Performance Metrics and Analysis: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics for applications; analyze performance data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.
  • Collaboration and Support: Work with cross-functional teams, including development, operations, and QA, to implement performance improvements and support performance testing efforts.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Create detailed reports on performance analysis, tool evaluations, and project outcomes; maintain documentation of monitoring setups and configurations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of the latest developments in performance monitoring and tools, recommending new solutions and practices to enhance system performance.
  • Training and Mentorship: Educate and guide team members on best practices in performance monitoring and tool usage to build organizational capability.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Extensive experience in performance engineering, with a focus on monitoring and tools implementation in IT environments.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Expertise in performance monitoring tools (e.g., New Relic, Dynatrace, Data dog, Splunk, AppDynamics, Grafana).
    • Experience with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner).
    • Strong knowledge of application architecture and performance principles.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
    • Excellent communication skills for collaboration with both technical and non-technical partners.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
