Team Overview

Join our Software Development team in Chandigarh as a Senior Software Developer in Java. This group is at the heart of EquiLend Spire, our leading platform for global securities finance. The team plays a key role in shaping features that drive client success and industry innovation, turning complex requirements into scalable, real-world solutions.As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you’ll work across the entire software lifecycle. You’ll have a direct influence on the platform’s performance and evolution, while collaborating closely with engineering peers, product leads, and client-facing teams.

Role Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend applications in Java using Spring Boot within a microservices architecture.
• Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to translate business requirements into clean, efficient code.
• Build and optimise RESTful APIs to support seamless integration across systems and third-party services.
• Use SQL and PL/SQL to perform efficient data access, optimisation, and tuning for high-volume queries.
• Implement software engineering best practices including unit testing (JUnit, Mockito), code reviews, and CI/CD automation.
• Troubleshoot live systems and address issues with minimal downtime, ensuring reliable system performance.
• Contribute to the technical evolution of the Spire platform through architecture discussions and design reviews.
• Guide junior engineers through mentorship and peer programming, fostering knowledge sharing and team growth.
• Evaluate new tools and technologies to support development velocity and improve software quality.
• Work cross-functionally with QA, DevOps, and support teams to ensure high-quality releases.
  

Required Skills

• Strong hands-on experience (3–5 years) in Java development with Spring Boot, especially in building distributed systems.
• Proven ability to design and implement microservices and REST APIs that are reliable and scalable.
• Excellent SQL and PL/SQL skills, with a solid track record in database performance tuning and optimisation.
• Solid foundation in object-oriented programming, algorithms, and common design patterns.
• Experience with build tools such as Maven or Gradle and test frameworks like JUnit and Mockito.
• Familiarity with front-end basics (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and exposure to frameworks such as Angular or React is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with relational databases and ORM frameworks like Hibernate.
• Exposure to containerization and orchestration tools including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong version control experience using Git, and collaborative workflow using Jira and Confluence.
• Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work across teams and stakeholders.
