Job Summary:


As the HR Manager at SmartBridge, you will be responsible for independently managing and executing the full spectrum of HR functions in a fast-paced EdTech environment. You will play a strategic and operational role in driving recruitment, performance management, employee engagement, policy development, compliance, and more. You will also act as a trusted advisor to leadership, contributing directly to organizational development and culture-building initiatives that align with company goals.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Talent Acquisition & Employer Branding

  • Lead end-to-end recruitment activities for all departments (Tech, Content, Sales, Marketing, Support).
  • Design job descriptions, post openings, screen candidates, coordinate interviews, and finalize hiring decisions.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to forecast future hiring needs.
  • Build partnerships with colleges, job portals, and staffing agencies.
  • Drive employer branding through social media and career events.


2. Onboarding, Induction & Exit Management

  • Develop and execute structured onboarding and induction programs to ensure smooth integration of new hires.
  • Ensure all joining formalities, document collection, and system setups are complete on time.
  • Conduct exit interviews, analyze attrition trends, and suggest improvements.


3. Employee Engagement & Culture

  • Plan and implement employee engagement strategies, events, and communication activities to promote a positive workplace culture.
  • Act as an employee champion by resolving grievances, conflicts, and concerns in a timely and empathetic manner.
  • Support diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives within the organization.


4. Performance Management

  • Lead performance review cycles – goal setting, mid-year, and annual appraisals.
  • Collaborate with managers to identify high performers and development needs.
  • Implement performance improvement plans (PIPs) where necessary.
  • Assist in designing career paths and growth opportunities.


5. Training & Development

  • Conduct regular Training Need Analysis (TNA).
  • Identify, plan, and execute internal and external training programs to upskill employees.
  • Maintain training records and measure training effectiveness.


6. HR Policies, Compliance & Documentation

  • Draft, review, and update company HR policies in line with current labor laws and industry best practices.
  • Maintain and audit employee records, files, contracts, and legal documents.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable statutory laws – PF, ESI, Gratuity, Shops & Establishments, LWF, POSH etc.
  • Coordinate with consultants and auditors during labor inspections or internal audits.


7. Compensation, Payroll & Benefits Administration

  • Coordinate with the finance team to prepare accurate payroll inputs each month.
  • Maintain leave and attendance systems and ensure timely LOP deductions.
  • Oversee benefits such as insurance, leave policies, performance bonuses, and reimbursements.
  • Handle salary bench marking and compensation structuring.


8. HR Analytics & Strategy

  • Generate regular HR reports – hiring metrics, attrition, leave data, training impact, etc.
  • Analyze trends and provide strategic recommendations to leadership for workforce planning.
  • Assist in budgeting HR costs and resources.


Requirements

Qualifications:


Desired Skills and Competencies:

  • Proven experience handling full-spectrum HR responsibilities independently in a startup/EdTech environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Indian labor laws and HR compliance.
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in using HRMS tools, Google Workspace, and Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and stakeholders with a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.


Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 6–8 years of experience in core HR functions, preferably in Edtech or education-based companies.


Working Conditions:

  • This is a full-time, onsite position in Hyderabad, India.
  • Occasional travel may be required for recruitment activities or training.
