Database Security Engineer

.NET APIs and SAP systems

Key Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain secure and scalable relational database systems using
MS SQL Server, Oracle, and MySQL
.
Conduct regular
vulnerability assessments
and
penetration testing
of databases, APIs, and applications using tools such as
Backtrack/Kali Linux
.
Implement database security best practices, including access control, auditing, encryption, and backup/restore strategies.
Collaborate with development teams to secure APIs (.NET-based) and database-driven applications.
Apply
cryptographic techniques
for data protection, including encryption at rest and in transit, secure key management, and hashing.
Perform
code and configuration reviews
to ensure compliance with
OWASP Top 10
and secure development life cycle (SDLC) principles.
Support the secure integration of
SAP applications
, and evaluate risks in ERP-related database access patterns.
Monitor database activity and respond to security events, incidents, and audit findings.
Document database security architectures, procedures, and policies.
Continuously assess emerging threats and technologies and recommend appropriate controls.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
4+ years of hands-on experience with
MS SQL Server, Oracle, and MySQL
database environments.
Strong experience in
penetration testing
and
vulnerability assessment
, particularly in database and API contexts.
Solid understanding of
application security
principles, including
.NET APIs
,
cryptography
, and
secure communication protocols
.
Working knowledge of
mobile application security
principles and tools.
Experience with
OWASP Top 10
, secure coding standards, and application threat modeling.
Understanding of
SAP security architecture
and database-layer risks in ERP systems.
Strong scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar).
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
