Position Overview

The Product Head – B2B – Surface will lead the design, development, and enhancement of surface-based logistics products tailored to enterprise clients. The role requires a strategic mindset to optimize ground operations, drive cost efficiencies, and ensure consistent service quality through a well-integrated surface logistics ecosystem.

Job Purpose

To design and scale ground-based logistics products that cater to Blue Dart’s B2B clientele. The focus is on delivering consistent service quality, operational efficiency, and value for money, while driving customer satisfaction and revenue growth.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Product Innovation & Strategy

  • Develop and own the surface product roadmap aligned with Blue Dart’s B2B strategy.
  • Introduce value-added services and industry-specific solutions.
  • Lead initiatives for route optimization, transit time reduction, and customized surface delivery models.

Customer & Market Insights

  • Engage with key surface B2B clients to identify specific ground transportation needs.
  • Track developments in surface logistics—including changes in regulations, road infrastructure, and competitor movements.
  • Use insights to refine offerings such as pricing models, hub-level integration, and sector-specific SLAs.

Operational Alignment

  • Collaborate with regional ground operations and hub management teams for efficient implementation.
  • Partner with IT to digitize key surface processes—real-time tracking, vehicle utilization, proof of delivery (POD), etc.
  • Support sales and regional teams in solutioning for strategic B2B clients.

Profitability, Margins, and Growth Focus

  • Drive initiatives to improve margins on surface deliveries through cost control and scale.
  • Optimize asset-light models, including vendor fleets, to improve reach and profitability.
  • Analyze performance data to finetune surface delivery models and offerings.

Performance Measurement & Optimization

  • Set clear KPIs for on-time delivery, cost per shipment, load factor, and customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct regular reviews to assess product success and drive continuous improvement.
  • Leverage analytics for better forecasting, route planning, and capacity utilization.

Education

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Essential: MBA/PGDM in Logistics, Supply Chain, Product Management, Marketing or Business Administration.
  • Preferred: Certification in Advanced Supply Chain Management or Business Analytics.

Experience

  • 6–10 years of experience in B2B logistics, with at least 3 years focused on surface product management or operations.
  • Proven expertise in surface logistics, including hub-and-spoke models, route management, and project execution, with success in scaling solutions, managing large clients, and leading cross-functional teams.

Skills & Capabilities

Core Technical Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of surface transport networks, transit times, and cost structures.
  • Deep understanding of B2B logistics models, including hub-and-spoke operations and consolidated shipping.
  • Proficiency in route planning tools, TMS (Transport Management Systems), CRM platforms, analytics software, and project management tools.
  • Understanding of sector-specific requirements in various industries.

Behavioural Competencies

  • Align surface product strategy with broader organizational goals.
  • Ability to work across operations, engineering, and commercial teams.
  • Proactive approach to resolving last-mile or network disruptions.
  • Drive timely rollouts and service consistency.
