Role Overview

The Head of Engineering is a senior leadership position accountable for shaping the technical vision, building scalable engineering processes, and leading high-performing teams. This role is critical in aligning technical execution with business strategy, driving product innovation, and ensuring engineering excellence across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and execute a forward-looking engineering vision aligned with company goals.
  • Own the creation and execution of the technical roadmap.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on company-wide strategy and planning.
  • Anticipate and mitigate engineering risks while identifying innovation opportunities.

Team Management & Development

  • Build and lead world-class engineering teams with a focus on performance, culture, and growth.
  • Drive talent acquisition, mentorship, retention, and succession planning.
  • Set clear goals and KPIs; manage performance reviews and skills development.

Engineering Operations & Delivery

  • Ensure timely, high-quality delivery of products and technical projects.
  • Oversee architecture, design, development, deployment, and maintenance processes.
  • Implement best-in-class engineering practices including security, scalability, and testing.
  • Continuously optimize engineering processes for efficiency and quality.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Product, QA, DevOps, and other business teams to align on priorities and execution.
  • Act as a bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Foster a shared sense of purpose and collaboration across functions.

Technical Leadership

  • Stay abreast of technology trends and assess relevance to business needs.
  • Provide hands-on guidance in architecture, code reviews, and major technical decisions.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, experimentation, and technical rigor.

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure adherence to security, regulatory, and quality standards.
  • Establish transparent reporting on engineering metrics and progress to leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience across both startup and enterprise environments.
  • Proven success in scaling engineering operations in high-growth settings.
  • Familiarity with Agile, Lean, and other iterative development methodologies.
  • Exposure to various software delivery models (SaaS, enterprise, e-commerce).
  • Understanding of industry-relevant security and compliance frameworks.

Note: This is an on-site role based out of Bangalore.
