NV5 is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to develop plans, specifications and reports on a number of concurrent projects with supervision from senior engineers. They will perform assignments designed to develop professional engineering work, knowledge, and abilities, requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks. The ideal candidate will have 4-7 years of professional engineering experience.


US Project experience is mandatory


Roles & Responsibilities

  • The applicant shall have proven experience in the HVAC design of Building Services with significant experience in a similar role or demonstration of a good track record.
  • Must have exposure to HVAC design of various types of buildings such as office, commercial, residential, etc., healthcare shall be an addition, etc.
  • Must have carried out heat load calculations using HAP, TRACE, etc., duct sizing, pipe sizing, ventilation calculations, air balancing and pressure drop calculations.
  • Must have knowledge about concepts of thermodynamics, refrigeration & air conditioning, psychometrics, equipment sizing, preparing technical schedules, etc.
  • Must have carried out basic HVAC equipment selection such as FCUs, VRF systems, fans, VAVs, AHUs, Chillers, Boilers, etc.
  • Must have in depth knowledge of software like AutoCAD, MEP Revit & other drafting software. The applicant should be able to work on the software mentioned without any help or minimal help.
  • A sound understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel is essential.
  • Experience of associated discipline software such as HAP, TRACE, IES, etc.
  • Must be fluent in English with an excellent understanding of technical terminology.
  • Promote technical excellence in all our projects.
  • Undertake technical checks and contribute to the design.
  • Develop positive professional relationships with the US Team, communicating openly about the project progress.
  • Ensuring Principal/Senior Engineers are kept informed of important and relevant service/design decisions and the objectives/standard of the company are achieved.
  • Coordinate & support other Engineers and CAD Technicians.


Skills & Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from a reputed institute.
  • 3-6 years' experience in mechanical engineering (HVAC background) within a MEP Consultancy environment.
  • Workshare/International project experience is preferred, especially in the US region.
  • Experience in Schematic Design (SD) to Construction Design (CD) phase.
  • Good understanding on the HVAC system design related to Building environment.
  • Ability to accept a high degree of responsibility in a team-based organization, combined with ability to work independently.
  • Broad building design knowledge, from working on a wide range of projects.
  • Excel skills (a detailed understanding including the use of macros).
  • Although mechanically biased it is expected that you will have an awareness of other key design team members such as architects, structural and civil engineers.
  • Must be highly proficient in the usage of AutoCAD, REVIT as a design software. Further, a REVIT tool test shall be given to the applicant to assess the skill level.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of applicable design codes for the US region (such as ASHRAE, IMC, IECC, etc.).
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels.
  • Must always conduct themselves in a professional manner.
  • Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering Examination (EIT) is preferred for all engineers at this level.
