About the Job:

Cloud and Application infrastructure Manager refers to a range of roles focused on the planning, deployment, maintenance, security, and optimization of cloud infrastructure and the applications hosted within it. It bridges the gap between infrastructure (the underlying computing resources) and the software applications that utilize those resources. 

Key responsibilities

• Deploying Solutions:

   Developing and deploying cloud and on-premise hosting solutions for high-availability services. This often involves creating infra architectural blueprints, translating technical requirements into viable cloud architectures and designs.

• Managing Cloud Infrastructure:

   Overseeing the management and maintenance of cloud computing systems and services, including servers, storage, networking components, and databases.

• Application Deployment and Management:

   Ensuring the smooth operation and performance of hosted applications, from their initial deployment to ongoing maintenance and upgrades.

• Security and Compliance:

   Implementing security measures like identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and coordination for security audits to protect sensitive data and ensure adherence to regulations (e.g., STQC, SOC 2).

• Performance Monitoring and Optimization:

   Monitoring cloud environments and applications to identify bottlenecks and optimize performance and resource utilization.

• Automation and Scripting:

   Automating repetitive tasks, implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for efficient provisioning, and utilizing scripting for streamlined operations like back up, restoration etc.

• Troubleshooting and Support:

   Resolving technical issues related to cloud systems and applications, including network connectivity problems, application failures, and data backup issues.

• Collaboration and Communication:

   Working effectively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and vendors to deliver and manage cloud solutions. 

Essential skills and qualifications

• Strong Technical Skills:

• Cloud Platform Expertise:

   Proficiency in major cloud platforms like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is crucial. Experience in working with Government Private Clouds is preferred

• Networking:

   Understanding core networking concepts and network management functions (e.g., VLANs, L2/L3 switches, routing, VPN, firewalls).

• Programming and Scripting:

   Proficiency in languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, Bash, and PowerShell for automation on back-up, application deployment etc.

• Containerization & Orchestration:

   Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes for managing containerized applications.

• Database Management:

   Knowledge of various database types (SQL, NoSQL) and services, along with data management best practices.

• Cloud Security:

   Understanding and implementing security measures like Identity and Access Management (IAM), encryption, firewalls, and compliance standards.

• DevOps:

   Knowledge of DevOps principles and CI/CD pipelines to streamline development and deployment.

• Soft Skills:

• Problem-solving and Analytical Abilities:

   To diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.

• Communication:

   Clearly conveying technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Leadership and Teamwork:

   Leading and collaborating effectively with project teams and cross-functional departments.

• Adaptability and Continuous Learning:

   Staying up-to-date on the latest cloud technologies and best practices in a rapidly evolving field.

• Project Management:

   Organizing tasks, prioritizing work, and meeting deadlines. 

Qualifications

• 10-15 years of experience in software development and 7+ years in technical leadership
• Proven track record of delivering large-scale enterprise applications on cloud/on‑premise
• Strong communication, client‑facing, and stakeholder management skills
