Role Overview

Technical Expert – Climate Change & Disaster Risk Assessment

This individual will play a central role in developing our platform’s analytical architecture, creating scalable geospatial workflows, prototyping multi-hazard risk layers, and co-developing applied frameworks for sector-specific resilience assessments.

Key Responsibilities

Applied Research & Innovation

  • Integrate findings from IPCC, UNDRR, scientific literature, and policy frameworks
  • Develop, test, and adapt risk assessment methodologies for industry application

Spatial Analysis & Remote Sensing

  • Lead management of spatial datasets related to climate variables, natural hazards, land use, and socio-economic exposure
  • Design workflows for multi-hazard and multi-criteria assessments using GIS/RS tools

Data Interpretation & Insight Generation

  • Translate geospatial outputs into relevant insights for stakeholders
  • Contribute to the development of sector-relevant risk and resilience indicators

Tool & Product Development

  • Build analytical modules and backend logic for a WebGIS-based decision-support tool
  • Support data visualization strategies (maps, dashboards, semi-automated tools) in collaboration with UI/UX teams

Collaboration & Communication

  • Engage in interdisciplinary co-creation, prototyping, and iteration
  • Communicate results effectively to technical and non-technical audiences

Candidate Profile
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in climate/disaster risk analytics with strong GIS/RS expertise
  • Proficient in QGIS, Google Earth Engine, ArcGIS, Python (geospatial stack), or R
  • Familiar with hazard datasets and climate models (e.g., flood, drought, cyclone)
  • Skilled in contextual storytelling and strategic data interpretation
  • Experience in developing or supporting WebGIS platforms is highly desirable
  • Understanding of global frameworks (IPCC, UNDRR, Sendai Framework, etc.)
  • Adaptable, self-driven, and comfortable in agile, collaborative environments

What We Offer
  • A pivotal role in shaping how climate risk is operationalized by industry
  • A non-hierarchical, inclusive work environment focused on innovation
  • Exposure to both product development and applied research
  • A growth-oriented culture that values initiative, depth, and shared learning
