Salary/Benefits:

Salary is between £28,325 and £33,231 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 27 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, People’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks:

37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

About The Role

We are currently seeking a Work Experience Team Leader to join our Student Services department at The Bedford College Group

.

As a Team Leader, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
  • Work Experience Coordination - Lead the implementation of TBCG’s Work Experience policy by overseeing a team of coordinators, sourcing placements, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and monitoring student progress.
  • Employer Engagement - Support curriculum departments by arranging and developing Employer Advisory Boards, maintaining employer relationships, and planning employer events to bridge education and employment.
  • Compliance & Safeguarding - Ensure all placements meet safeguarding, health and safety, and awarding body requirements, and that DBS processes are effectively managed to support student and curriculum needs.
  • Collaboration & Communication - Work closely with curriculum, Business Development, and Careers teams to align with the Careers Strategy and Gatsby Benchmarks, while maintaining clear communication with students, staff, and employers.
  • Leadership & Data Management - Line manage the Work Experience team, chair regular meetings, maintain accurate placement data for audits, and contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement across the college.

About You

  • Qualifications & Knowledge - Holds Level 2 English and Maths and a Level 3 vocational qualification, with a strong understanding of student personal and professional development and current educational initiatives.
  • Leadership & Team Experience - Proven experience leading teams, coaching staff, delivering training, and managing performance within an educational setting, particularly with learners from disadvantaged backgrounds.
  • Strategic & Partnership Skills - Skilled in developing employer and community partnerships, writing and updating policies, and leading new initiatives that align with college goals and student support strategies.
  • Analytical & Organisational Abilities - Proficient in data analysis to inform interventions, track effectiveness, and plan support; highly organised, proactive, and able to manage workload and delegate effectively.
  • Personal Qualities & Commitment - Self-motivated, compassionate, and resilient under pressure; committed to safeguarding, student welfare, and promoting a positive, inclusive learning environment.
