About the Role:

We are looking for a visionary Senior R&D Leader to spearhead the design, development, and scaling of all hardware and embedded systems across Enlog’s electricity management verticals — from household-level edge devices to discom-grade grid infrastructure.

This role will define the future of decentralized energy intelligence in India, owning the entire hardware and firmware stack for products like Enmate, EnPro, and newer grid-scale innovations. You’ll lead a cross-disciplinary team of hardware engineers, firmware developers, and embedded ML scientists to build the most advanced, compact, and intelligent power monitoring systems in the market.

Key Responsibilities

Lead End-to-End Hardware & Firmware Development

Architect embedded energy monitoring devices for unit tracking, phase balancing, grid laxity, and predictive safety.

Own circuit design, sensor selection, PCB development, and firmware delivery.

Evaluate and integrate CTs, power ICs, digital sensors, BLE mesh, sub-GHz, and high-speed ADCs.

Take hardware from prototyping to mass manufacturing with rigorous validation infrastructure.

Establish a data communication subsystem team to explore Wi-SUN, 6LoWPAN, BLE mesh, and more.

Build and Manage a High-Impact R&D Team

Hire and lead a team of:

Analog/Digital Hardware Engineers

Firmware Developers (ESP-IDF, OTA, low-power systems)

Embedded ML Engineers (for NILM, edge waveform analytics)

Align team for independent execution, structured innovation, and design–production collaboration.

3. Lead Strategic R&D for Grid-to-Edge Solutions

Own end-device strategy across:

Consumption: Real-time kWh/kVAh, voltage dip, phase loss detection.

Distribution: Transformer/fuse monitoring and AI-based laxity detection.

Transmission: Fault line analytics, demand–supply forecasting sensors.

Design modular hardware platforms that scale across use cases.

4. Collaborate with CTO & Cloud Engineering

Work closely with the CTO to define all backend ↔ firmware integrations.

Coordinate with the cloud team on:

OTA and secure provisioning

Real-time MQTT + REST APIs

Kafka → Redis → ClickHouse architecture compatibility

5. Ensure Reliability, Compliance, and Manufacturing Scale

Define and enforce test plans: EMI, thermal, overload, real-world stress testing.

Own CE, BIS, and IEC compliance across all SKUs.

Optimize for Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Testability (DFT).

6. Explore, Innovate, Lead

Stay ahead in:

Sensing: TMR, Rogowski, Hall-effect, hybrid multi-sensor designs.

Communication: Wi-SUN, NB-IoT, BLE mesh, Sub-GHz

ML: Edge-based appliance disaggregation, waveform anomaly detection

Launch high-impact PoCs with discoms, industrials, and smart infra partners.

Requirements

5-7 years of hands-on experience in embedded hardware + firmware development.

Proven track record of shipping production-ready IoT devices at scale.

Strong expertise in power electronics, energy metering, and wireless protocols.

Experience with firmware–cloud integration and OTA.

Exposure to AI/ML in embedded systems is a strong plus.

Prior experience leading hardware/embedded teams or founding early-stage hardware projects is highly desirable.

Nice to Have

Experience with IoT platforms or edge computing

Knowledge of Linux-based systems and scripting (Python/Bash)

Familiarity with cloud integration (MQTT, REST APIs)

Prior experience in a fast-paced startup environment
