Job Description

Job Summary

The Production Specialist is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the manufacturing processes in a dairy production facility. This role focuses on ensuring efficient, high-quality production while adhering to safety and regulatory standards. The Production Specialist will collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline operations, manage equipment, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Production Management:
    • Monitor and manage daily dairy production activities to meet quality and quantity targets.
    • Coordinate with production teams to ensure timely and efficient processing of milk, cheese, yogurt, butter, and other dairy products.
    • Supervise pasteurization, homogenization, and packaging processes, ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Implement and monitor quality control systems to maintain product consistency.
    • Conduct inspections and audits of production areas to ensure adherence to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points).
    • Investigate and resolve quality issues promptly.
  • Process Optimization:
    • Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks and recommend improvements.
    • Develop and implement lean manufacturing practices to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
    • Assist in process automation projects and evaluate new technologies.
  • Compliance and Safety:
    • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, including FDA, FSMA, and other relevant standards.
    • Conduct safety training for production staff and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
    • Maintain accurate production and safety records.
  • Inventory and Resource Management:
    • Monitor raw material inventory levels and coordinate with the purchasing team for timely procurement.
    • Optimize the use of resources to minimize downtime and reduce production costs.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Work closely with the Quality Assurance, Maintenance, and Logistics teams to achieve production goals.
    • Provide training and support to production staff on equipment operation and safety procedures.
  • Reporting and Documentation:
    • Prepare and submit production reports, including efficiency, waste, and downtime analyses.
    • Maintain documentation for audits and regulatory inspections.

  • Strong knowledge of dairy production processes and equipment.
  • Familiarity with HACCP, GMP, and other food safety standards.
  • Analytical skills for data analysis and process optimization.
  • Proficiency in using ERP and production management software.
