The Team:
Morningstar's Central Reference and Entity Data team is a global team, responsible to leverages its expertise in equity research for strategy and operations of Reference Data, which touches across Morningstar products and is strategically crucial for Morningstar’s Data Governance strategy. It uses Morningstar`s intellectual property to create Entity level data that empower investors’ success at every stage of the investment process - market monitoring, benchmarking, and asset allocation. The unit offers a broad suite of global equity, bond, corporate hierarchy, Private securities and Funds. The team partners with multiple lines of business and contributes towards developing new services.
The Role
:The Central Reference & Entity Data team is looking for a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, creative, and results-driven candidate with 3-5+ years of experience in operations with exposure to Reference and/or Entity Data. The primary function of the team is to source, validate and maintain input data for the Data operations covering reference data, Entity data, corporate actions and other attributes that define a security, across different asset class like Equity, Fixed Income and Funds. We are looking for a content researcher with expertise in Reference and Entity data. The team’s mandate is to develop new capabilities around Entity-Security data, serving multiple product lines. This role will work closely with the business units to enable new revenue opportunities. As a Associate Team Leader, you will oversee operations with managing 8-13 team members which include coordination with Content and methodology design, project & stakeholder management, particularly covering Entity and Reference Data and timely data collection and delivery. You will work in a global environment, managing stakeholders in multiple regions.The Associate Team Leader oversees the management of the day-to-day activities of the Central Reference & Entity Data team, that powers the Morningstar products and platforms. Typically, the Associate Team Lead will work closely with his or her team of analyst and Manager, as well as with the on-shore-based stakeholders to ensure that all the agreed deliverables from the team are met and that the team is fully equipped in terms of training and documentation. The Associate Team Leader will be responsible for establishing his or her teams’ goals and aligning them with the organization’s overall goals and objectives. He or she will be accountable for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, and efficiency of the teams and the delivery of the operational performance KPIs.

- Assisting managing and developing a team of 10+ data analysts by providing clear direction, establishing SMART goals, and optimizing resource allocation.
- Creating, maintaining, and improving data collection and processing methodology
- Primarily responsible for team productivity and quality as per SLA to deliver clients
- Ensure appropriate methods and techniques to improve and maintain the highest quality standards in the data collected by the team.
- Acts as the main point of contact for his or her entire team for all questions, comments, and concerns.
- Monitors metrics dashboards and ensures consistent usage of the tools.
- Tracks, measures, and reports on agreed daily, monthly, and quarterly metrics to all stakeholders.
- Ensures entire team has the tools and resources needed to meet their goals.
- Capable of converting business need into tech specs and direct tech team to develop or improve tools and techniques.
- Identifies areas for improvement across the team and proactively takes steps to improve upon these weaknesses by offering ideas, provides coaching and training to team members as appropriate and according to the specific needs of the individual and the group.
- Sets goals and priorities for the team members and researchers in consultation with the Manager & Senior Manager/Director and ensures performance standards are consistently met or exceeded.
- Effectively motivates and rewards the team insuring good overall morale. Emphasize on employee engagement and psychological safety within team.
- Conducts performance reviews of each team member and explains/sets career development paths and opportunities for team members.
- Should inculcate the first-time right concept within the team members.
- Providing timely resolution of complex Data Collection and Client queries
- Actively participating and contributing to Automation/Process simplification efforts in Data Collection
- Develop and maintain JIRA dashboards to track and analyze Operation and Client Queries
Daily Job Responsibilities/Deliverables
- Workflow management and assignment of tasks as per process priorities.

- Must be excellent in business communications and negotiations.
- Conduct team huddles, meetings, Check-in to assure issues resolution on time.
- Communicate any questions, issues or recommendations with regards to process, workflow, technology, methodology, team morale etc. all stakeholders.
- Provide floor support by answering questions, solving issues that come up throughout the day and observing the dynamics of the team.
- Stakeholder management and Team Leave management to see no impact on BAU and SLAs.
- Accept/reject leave requests.
- Arrange for job shifts based on daily staffing requirements.
- Ensure adequate engagement levels of the staff to drive business results
Desired Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor/Master’s degree in finance/business with an exceptional academic record
- Professional degree (CA, CFA) preferred
- Around 3+ years of professional work experience at seniority level and people management
- Prior experience managing diverse teams of 10+ people
- Strong understanding of Reference Data- Entity-Security mapping and Entity legal structure
- Able to take the initiative and work without detailed guidance or supervision
- Eager and ready to work in a high-performance culture.
- Strong interpersonal & analytical skills with pro-active & positive attitude
- Strong people, process, and project management skills
- Intermediate or Advance knowledge of SQL and Excel
- Ability to take calls early or late some nights of the week.
