Senior Firmware Engineer

Position Requirements

Role & Responsibilities

• Understand and explore segments product portfolio.
• Define design/architecture for the product firmware.
• Firmware development & troubleshooting.
• Code review and quality assurance using industry standard tools.
• Ensure process compliance, best practices and leveraging AI in simplifying them.
• Mentor project team members.
• Manage launched products firmware lifecycle.
• Manage product challenges due to external factors such as market or supply chain.
• Collaborate with Business Unit, Cross functional and Delivery Teams to achieve Project goals for firmware.

Knowledge:

1. Exposure to Industrial IoT equipment like

   PLC (Siemens, Allen Bradley)

   , Edge devices and gateways
2. Knowledge of Industrial IOT domain protocols like

   Modbus, PROFINET, OPC-UA, EtherNet/IP

3. Exposure to Microprocessor Architecture Family e.g.

   ARM

   Cortex, Raspberry PI, iMX series, RISC V
4. Knowledge of

   embedded linux

   ,

   device driver concepts

   and inter process communication.
5. Knowledge of Build toolchains and framework such as Build root, Yocto
6. Knowledge of Microcontroller peripherals and drivers e.g.

   ADC, DAC, UART, RS485

   , Ethernet
7. Understanding of different types of

   analog & digital sensors

   and their qualification/verification process
8. Knowledge of Wireless protocols

   WI-FI

   ,

   Bluetooth/BLE

   , IoT Cellular.
9. Knowledge of networking concepts like OSI layers, embedded TCP/IP stacks and common IP protocols.
10. Knowledge of IoT communication protocols

    MQTT

    , COAP, AMQP
11. DFMA and

    DFMEA

    , Design release process

12. Coding standards

    , guidelines, and compliance tools

13. Version control

    and repositories using git tools
14. Software quality assurance and automated

    testing tools

Experience / Skills:

1. Experience of integrating and enabling products in factory environment
2. Maintain, support & troubleshoot products already in production
3. Documenting

   Software Design

   (flow charts, state diagram, logic design, analysis, implementation, debugging and testing etc)
4. Good hands-on programming in

   Embedded C, Golang

5. Programming in scripting languages such as batch, shell, python, Nodejs is a plus.
6. Experience with AWS/Google cloud for device connectivity. Exposure to IoT cloud services. e.g. AWS IoT is a plus.
7. Understanding of

   Schematic/ Hardware design

   around microcontrollers like ST, TI, Atmel, Microchip, ARM core

Qualifications and Experience:

M.Tech/B.Tech in Computer Science / Electronics Engineering from a good Engineering College.
