In depth knowledge of various Manufacturing & Heat treatment processes with their influence on cost. Material selection capabilities, understanding of global engineering standards (eg ISO, DIN, etc...) would be an advantage. Creating manufacturing drawings with application of GD&T. Hands on experience of any 3D software for 3D modelling and 2D drawing creation. Good analytical skills. Lean manufacturing techniques for designing of tools.
