Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Network Support Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing our network infrastructure, ensuring its smooth operation, and providing technical support to resolve any network-related issues. This role demands a strong understanding of networking principles, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Network Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
  • Monitor network performance and ensure network availability and reliability.
  • Perform regular network performance tuning and upgrades.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, and other network issues.
  • Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments, including systems software, applications software, hardware, and configurations.
  • Technical Support:
  • Provide Level 1 and Level 2 support for network issues.
  • Assist in network design and implementation.
  • Support network installations, configurations, and updates.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain documentation of network configurations, standards, and processes.
  • Create and update network diagrams and technical documentation.
  • Generate reports on network performance and issue resolution.
  • Security and Compliance:
  • Implement network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
  • Monitor network traffic for suspicious activity and take appropriate actions.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work closely with IT team members, vendors, and clients to resolve issues.
  • Communicate network status and issues to relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior staff on network systems and protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Network Support Engineer or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of network infrastructure, protocols, and services (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
  • Hands-on experience with network hardware (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls) and software.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent are preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position.
  • On-call availability may be required for emergencies.
  • Occasional travel to client sites may be necessary.
