We are seeking an experienced and technically strong
Electrical Design Manager
to lead our transformer design team, focusing on
Power Transformers (20 MVA to 50 MVA), Dry Type Transformers
, and
Distribution Transformers
. The role involves end-to-end responsibility for electrical design, optimization, and compliance with international standards. The ideal candidate should possess deep technical knowledge, leadership capabilities, and prior experience working in the transformer manufacturing industry.
Key Responsibilities
Transformer Design & Development:
- Design and develop Power Transformers (20–50 MVA, up to 132/220 kV), Dry Type Transformers, and Distribution Transformers.
- Perform detailed electrical and thermal design calculations, including short-circuit withstand, no-load/load losses, impedance, insulation coordination, and temperature rise.
- Select appropriate core materials, conductor types, insulation systems, and cooling methods (ONAN, ONAF, AN, AF, etc.).
- Prepare and review electrical design documents: GA drawings, schematic/wiring diagrams, core-coil assembly drawings, and BOMs.
Standards & Compliance
- Ensure all designs meet international and national standards such as:
- IEC 60076, IS 2026, IEEE C57, ANSI, etc.
- Support in documentation for type testing, routine testing, and special testing as per applicable standards.
Engineering Support & Coordination
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (sales, production, quality, and testing) to ensure design feasibility, cost-efficiency, and timely delivery.
- Provide technical support to the testing team during FAT (Factory Acceptance Tests) and resolve design-related issues.
- Work with customers and consultants for technical clarifications, approvals, and design customization as needed.
Team Leadership & Project Management
- Lead and mentor a team of electrical design engineers.
- Assign tasks, review work, ensure accuracy and compliance, and facilitate professional development.
- Track and manage multiple projects, ensuring design milestones are met within deadlines.
Technology & Innovation
- Introduce new materials, improved design methodologies, and optimization techniques to enhance transformer performance and reduce costs.
- Utilize design and simulation software effectively (AutoCAD, ANSYS, ELCAP, Maxwell, MATLAB, etc.).
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering.
- Experience: 10–20 years in transformer design, with a minimum of 5 years handling 20 MVA to 50 MVA Power Transformers. Experience in Dry Type and Distribution Transformer design is essential.
- Software Proficiency: AutoCAD Electrical, ANSYS, Maxwell, ELCAP, SolidWorks Electrical, MATLAB, or equivalent tools.
