Job Title: Civil Project Engineer – Layout, Tendering & Execution
Department: Project Execution / Civil Engineering
Reports To: Section Head / Construction Manager

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and versatile Civil Project Engineer to assist in the end-to-end planning, coordination, and execution of civil engineering activities for large-scale infrastructure or industrial projects. This role involves preparing tender specifications, selecting vendors and partners, executing detailed layouts, and ensuring alignment with operational and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:1. Layout Configuration & Tender Specification (TS):Support the Section Head in developing optimal civil layouts to ensure O&M suitability and reduced construction volume.
Assist in preparing tender specifications for a variety of civil works related to engineering consultants and construction partners.
2. Vendor & Consultant Selection: Collaborate with the Construction Manager to identify suitable technology suppliers, engineering consultants, and construction partners.
Participate in vendor meetings, ensure clarity in scope demarcation between client and vendor, and eliminate loose ends in responsibilities.
3. Planning & Execution Oversight: Understand and coordinate the construction sequence (e.g., piling, PCC, RCC) and manage interdisciplinary activities.
Execute manpower planning in line with project schedules and resource utilization.
Apply knowledge of modern construction technologies, management practices, and relevant codes and standards.
Assist in preparing technical approval notes and track project control metrics including cash flow and milestone status.
Work with O&M teams during commissioning and stabilization.
4. Engineering Support & Documentation: Prepare technical documents including contracts, specifications, general conditions, QAPs, and FQPs.
Interpret design plans, drawings, and specifications; prepare Bills of Quantities, cost estimates, and rate analysis.
Review and finalize pre-tender estimates and civil work costing (material, labor, equipment).
5. Technical Evaluation & Site Management: Analyze soil test reports, concrete strength, reinforcement detailing, and structural drawings.
Oversee surveying operations (site layout, reference levels, elevation benchmarks).
Prepare BBS (Bar Bending Schedule), pouring schedules, and ensure quality in slab, beam, and column execution.
Supervise concrete curing, finalize curing methodology, and oversee QA/QC compliance.
6. Stakeholder Coordination: Ensure adherence to safety norms and construction standards through regular site inspections.
Coordinate with architects, subcontractors, consultants, and clients across all project stages.
7. Team Building & Personnel Onboarding: Assist in identifying skilled personnel for key project roles.
Contribute to grooming and mentoring Graduate Engineer Trainees (GETs) and On-Job Trainees (OJTs) for future O&M responsibilities.
Key Skills & Competencies: Strong knowledge of civil construction methods, IS codes, project planning tools (Primavera/MSP), and QA/QC procedures.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Experience with rate analysis, cost estimation, contract administration, and vendor management.
Proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD, and ERP-based project systems.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Qualifications: B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering (Master’s degree is a plus)
5–10 years of relevant experience in infrastructure or industrial construction projects
Prior exposure to tendering, vendor selection, and layout planning highly desirable
