Web Application Developer

Job Purpose

This position will perform development tasks for designated IT projects and applications including but not limited to Web-based application development, orchestration, automation, database design and development, and custom application development. The position may also be responsible for maintaining critical operational application systems that support the business or business customers and work incidents to resolution.

Essential Functions

* Act as a development resource on new development efforts or enhancements to existing applications/software systems

* Work with IT managers/Application Administrators on new development, enhancements, or maintenance for existing custom-developed applications, Cloud automation, DevOps, or packaged software

* Program, test, debug and document software applications

* Application prototyping

* Develop test cases, scenarios, and scripts to ensure application quality, as well as develop all online help and documentation

* Construct reusable, logical code using standard conventions and best practices

* Assist in the preparation of detailed designs from pre-approved requirements for programs, modules, and/or routines, including complete documentation

* Develop realistic schedules and cost estimates for software development tasks

* Participate in the development and documentation of software process definition, implementation methods, and practices for process and product control

* May be required to develop custom interfaces among existing or new systems/applications

* Participation on project teams

Experience

* 4 to 6 years of experience

* Applied knowledge of development operations, design and/or development

* Additional knowledge areas include knowledge of client/server architecture, software architecture knowledge, and user requirements analysis

* Demonstrated experience preparing and migrating applications to the cloud services is a plus

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Client/server & Web Application concepts and prototyping tools knowledge

* Expertise in the following programming languages and skills: C#, MVC, Web API, HTML/HTML5, CSS, Entity Framework (or equivalent ORM), Microsoft SQL Server, SQL, Team Foundation Server (TFS) or Git, JavaScript frameworks (i.e., AngularJS, Knockout, NodeJS), Responsive Design (i.e., Bootstrap)

* DBMS middleware, Structured Query Language programming, Virtualization, and LAN basics and tools knowledge

* Expertise with Linux

* Knowledge of working in an Agile environment

* Client/server concepts and prototyping tools knowledge

* TCP/IP, UDP, and other networking protocols
