A Wazuh developer is responsible for building and maintaining SIEM solutions using Wazuh, a free and open-source security platform. This includes designing, developing, and implementing features, integrations, and customizations within the Wazuh ecosystem to enhance threat detection, security monitoring, and compliance efforts. The role does not require work in 24x7 shifts but should be available to work with teams during non-business hours.

Key responsibilities

Wazuh Developers are responsible for designing, developing, and implementing new features for the Wazuh software, including the agent, server, and cloud components. This includes troubleshooting, debugging, and upgrading existing software and systems. They also integrate Wazuh with third-party tools like Splunk and the ELK Stack, create technical documentation, and collaborate with other teams to deliver solutions. Gathering user feedback and engaging with the Wazuh community are also important aspects of the role. 

Required skills

Key skills for a Wazuh Developer include proficiency in programming languages such as Python and/or C++, and experience with Wazuh or similar SIEM tools like Splunk or Elastic Search. Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and version control systems like Git is also necessary. A strong understanding of security concepts, databases, and software testing is required, along with strong communication and teamwork skills.

Desirable skills

Helpful skills for this role include experience with virtualization and Docker, familiarity with CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions, knowledge of scripting languages like Python, and experience with debugging tool.

Education and experience

Typically, a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field is needed. The required years of experience can vary depending on the specific job and company.
