Description
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of warehouse operations. This includes overseeing all aspects of receiving, storing, picking, packing, and shipping goods, managing inventory, optimizing warehouse layout and efficiency, leading and developing a team, and ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and budgetary standards. The ideal candidate is a highly organized, results-driven leader with a strong understanding of logistics and supply chain principles.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
Plan, coordinate, and monitor the efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of all goods, ensuring a smooth and consistent flow of products.
Optimize warehouse layout and space utilization to maximize efficiency and storage capacity.
Implement and enforce operational policies and procedures to ensure consistency, quality, and productivity.
Oversee the maintenance and effective operation of warehouse machinery and equipment (e.g., forklifts, automated systems).
Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) to enhance operational efficiency and reduce waste.
Manage and coordinate logistics with suppliers, customers, and transport companies to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
Inventory Management:
Maintain accurate inventory control through regular physical counts, cycle counts, and reconciliation with data storage systems (WMS).
Monitor inventory levels, identify discrepancies, and make recommendations for ordering and restocking.
Ensure the relevance and accuracy of all documentation related to goods in and goods out, including labeling.
Team Leadership & Management:
Recruit, select, onboard, train, coach, and motivate warehouse staff.
Plan work rotas, assign tasks, and monitor performance and progress to ensure productivity and quality targets are met.
Foster a positive and safe working environment, promoting teamwork and accountability.
Conduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
Address and resolve workplace issues and conflicts effectively.
Health, Safety, and Security:
Implement and maintain high standards of health, safety, hygiene, and security within the warehouse environment.
Ensure strict compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation (e.g., OSHA regulations).
Conduct regular inspections of the warehouse and equipment to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
Develop and enforce security procedures and protocols to safeguard warehouse operations and contents.
Investigate accidents and incidents, and implement corrective actions.
Reporting & Financial Management:
Prepare and analyze regular reports and statistics on warehouse performance (e.g., IN/OUT status, dead stock, productivity KPIs).
Develop and manage the warehouse budget, controlling costs and ensuring operations stay within financial limits.
Identify and recommend system improvements and drive through recommendations for change.
Communication & Collaboration:
Liaise effectively with other departments (e.g., procurement, customer service, sales) to ensure seamless operations and customer satisfaction.
Communicate clearly and concisely with staff, management, and external partners.
Respond to and deal with customer communications by email and telephone as needed.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CSCP, CPIM, OSHA Safety Certification, Lean Six Sigma) are a significant plus.
Experience:
Proven work experience (typically 3-5+ years) as a Warehouse Manager or in a similar supervisory role within a warehouse or distribution environment.
Hands-on experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and other inventory software/databases.
Demonstrated experience in inventory control, order fulfillment, and process optimization.
Experience operating or overseeing the operation of material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts).

Typically works in a warehouse environment, which may involve varying temperatures, noise levels, and physical activity.
May require working occasional evenings, weekends, or shifts to meet operational demands.
