Job Description

Company Description

Eon Space Labs is a fast-growing, early-stage space-defense technology company on a mission to develop advanced, lightweight optical payloads for satellites and drones. We are a multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers, and scientists focused on solving critical challenges in imaging, sensing, and systems integration. Our products are already gaining traction in global markets, and we are scaling to take on the next frontier of innovation.

Role Description

We are in search of a skilled and talented Sr. Mechanical Engineer to join our team of engineers dedicated to developing cutting-edge optomechanical systems for both space-based and ground-based imaging solutions. The ideal candidate should possess a robust background in mechanical engineering, with a primary focus on optomechanical design and analysis.

As a Senior Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design and analysis of optomechanical components and systems for space-based and ground-based imaging systems. This includes selecting materials and manufacturing processes, and conducting structural and thermal analyses to ensure these systems meet stringent performance and reliability criteria. In addition, you will work closely with our team of electrical and software engineers to seamlessly integrate optomechanical systems into our overall imaging solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Optomechanical System Design:

Design and analyse optomechanical components and systems for space-based and ground-based imaging systems.
  • Material and Process Selection:

Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes for optomechanical components and systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Structural and Thermal Analyses:

Perform rigorous structural and thermal analyses of optomechanical components and systems to meet performance and reliability requirements.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Collaborate with electrical and software engineers to ensure the smooth integration of optomechanical systems into the overall imaging system.
  • Specification and Documentation:

Contribute to the development of optomechanical system specifications and requirements, and participate in the review of design documentation, including drawings and test plans.
  • Testing and Verification:

Participate in the testing and verification of optomechanical components and systems.
  • Documentation:

Support the development and maintenance of optomechanical system documentation, including drawings, test plans, and technical reports.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in mechanical engineering, with a specific focus on optomechanical design and analysis.
  • Profound knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes for optomechanical components and systems.
  • Experience with structural and thermal analyses of optomechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with the design and analysis of space-based imaging systems is a valuable asset.
  • Outstanding communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and analysis tools, such as SolidWorks/Fusion360 and ANSYS.
