Job Summary:
Over 10 years of expertise in designing and engineering SCADA systems for high-voltage (HV/EHV) electrical substations (GIS, up to 400 kV). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in protection & control (P&C) systems, substation automation (IEC 61850), and integration of SCADA with remote monitoring and control systems and RTS, RTUs, LAN devices, panels, battery chargers and OTN designs. This role involves end-to-end SCADA design, AC/DC drawings, IED configuration, Inter-tripping, FO drawings, protection and relay settings, system integration, and support during project execution across domestic and international projects.
*Key Responsibilities:*
Lead the SCADA design and engineering activities for AIS/GIS & Hybrid substations.
Develop and review system architecture, communication schematics, signal lists, and network configurations.
Design and configure HMI screens, RTUs, PLCs, and IEDs.
Interface with vendors for procurement and integration of SCADA hardware/software.
Ensure SCADA system compliance with IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104 (IEC 104), DNP3, and other relevant standards.
Collaborate with protection, automation, and commissioning teams for integrated solutions.
Prepare detailed engineering documentation including SLDs, BOMs, wiring diagrams, and test procedures.
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers.
Engage with clients, consultants and OEMs to understand project requirements and ensure deliverables are met.
*Key Skills & Competencies:*
Extensive experience in substation SCADA/Automation system designs and BMS controls.
Strong knowledge of communication protocols (IEC 61850, Modbus, DNP3, etc.).
Hands-on experience with SCADA systems like Siemens SICAM, GE Grid, ABB MicroSCADA, Schneider, PLC’s etc.
Familiarity with, ETAP/EPlan/CYMCAP and AutoCAD or other electrical design tools.
SCADA – Design, execution, testing, commissioning and troubleshooting procedures.
Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
*Qualifications:*
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation Engineering.
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in substation SCADA design and integration.
International project exposure (optional but desirable).
