The Role

Here's the beautiful truth: happy people create happy customers. As our first HR & Operations hire, you're not just managing processes - you're creating the foundation that keeps our tutors motivated, our team energized, and ultimately, our students thriving.


You'll be building our people infrastructure from scratch in a "learn fast, try things out, get better" environment. This means you get to work smart- design our onboarding experience, choose our HR tools, create our policies - all while staying customer-centric by ensuring everything we build supports our tutors in delivering amazing student outcomes.

What You'll Own

People & Culture

  • Be the go-to person for employee questions, concerns, and workplace issues
  • Support hiring: coordinate interviews, manage candidate experience, handle offer processes
  • Help scale our team culture as we grow


Compliance & Finance Coordination

  • Partner with our external accountants for bank reconciliation, expense queries, and financial documentation
  • Coordinate with CA firms for all statutory compliances: TDS payments & filings, profession tax, EPF, GST
  • Ensure we're always compliant and ahead of deadlines


Payroll & HR Operations

  • Run monthly payroll with full compliance
  • Design and implement our internal HR portal for attendance, policies, payslip downloads, and document management
  • Create our employee onboarding experience from offer letter to first-day success


Office & Operations

  • Manage office administration and ensure smooth day-to-day operations
  • Handle vendor relationships and office infrastructure needs


What We're Looking For

Experience:

Education:

Must-Haves:

  • Experience with Indian statutory compliances (TDS, EPF, GST)
  • Hands-on experience with any payroll or HR software (we're tool-agnostic and love to work smart!)
  • Strong communication skills with empathy for team members
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and excited about building processes from scratch
  • Customer-centric mindset - you understand that happy employees create happy customers

Your Personality:

  • Persevere: You don't quit when things get complex (compliance can be tricky!)
  • Curious: You dig deeper until you understand why something works (or doesn't)
  • Humble: You check your ego at the door and celebrate team wins
  • Empathetic: You understand that behind every policy is a real person with real needs

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Previous experience in education or working with parents/families
  • Experience setting up HR systems from scratch
  • Understanding of the unique needs of working parents (many of our team are parents too!)
