Job Overview
The Systems Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining the IT infrastructure, including datacenter, virtualization, cloud computing, IT applications, and end user support. The Systems Administrator works closely with the IT manager and other IT staff to ensure the optimal performance, security, and availability of the IT systems and services. The Systems Administrator also provides technical guidance and troubleshooting to the end users on various IT issues and requests.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Management of IT infrastructure, including virtualized servers, storage, backup devices, hardware, and software applications.
- Ensures computer equipment, hardware, and software are updated to meet the company’s needs
- Active member of the IT Team – assists in response to helpdesk tickets and ensures accurate and timely closer of requests.
- Provides technical guidance to the end users on new IT systems, including new user hardware and set-up
- Management of existing IT assets and provide inputs in the procurement of new IT-related assets
- Work with users and global teams on business requirements for new technology implementations
- IT Application Installation, Validation, Configuration and Support, ensure IT compliance
- End user support for Corporate/Site Applications & Systems
- Data Backup, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity for Business applications and users
- Document Management – Implement Policies and Procedures for Electronic Data and Computer System Operations,
maintain SOPs, GMP / Non-GMP and other Guidelines
- Extending IT Support to all External / Internal Audits / Visitors & Clients
- Define and implement IT policies, procedures, and best practices, working closely with management to help maintain FDA compliance on all IT infrastructure and applications as needed
- Manage security solutions, including firewall, Switch configurations, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- 5-10 years performing computer system administration, manufacturing environment preferred
- A certificate in computer science or a related field, preferred CCNA & MCP
- Demonstrated ability to learn and apply regulations related to the pharmaceutical industry computer systems, specifically: cGMP documentation requirements and regulatory agency requirements such as FDA 21 CFR Part 11 Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Windows operating systems
- A solid understanding of networking, cloud /distributed computing environment concepts
- Must possess strong written and communication skills, organization and multitasking
- Willingness to mentor, train, and share knowledge with peers
Work Environment
- Frequent walking to and from various employee’s office spaces
- Prolonged stays in areas with moderate noise levels (sever room, mechanical rooms, etc.)
- Use of hands for fine manipulation
- Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching are required (Installation of infrastructure equipment, PCs and other hardware)
- Position may occasionally require extended hours including evenings and weekends, as needed
