Job Description

We are seeking a Manager, Solar & Storage Engineering who will be responsible for Vena Energy India’s readiness for hybrid bids with a focus on battery systems. This role will lead and coordinate efforts from Design and Engineering (D&E) to support Business Development (BD), Procurement & Construction teams. The role will be responsible for driving D&E of energy storage system which includes battery & Battery Management Systems (BMS) and integrating them with Wind, Solar, or hybrid configurations in alignment with tender requirements and grid codes, while incorporating optimization techniques and best practices to improve Levelized Cost of Energy (LCoE). Spearheads the development of an optimization tool to address generation and dispatch variability in hybrid plant models. Collaborates with Procurement, BD, and Construction teams to explore innovative solutions for cost optimization. Provides technical support for battery-related projects across the Vena system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Optimize hybrid plants to reduce LCoE every year for new hybrid projects including battery sizing and technology selection.
  • Lead comparative analysis between various battery/storage technologies and select the most techno-commercial suitable solution for the project.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies (e.g., Li-ion, Ni-Cd, hydrogen) for potential integration.
  • Participate regularly with project teams to ensure timely responses to project requirements.
  • Coordinate with Owner’s Engineer to complete detailed engineering for awarded hybrid/battery projects.
  • Lead development of an optimization tool-based generation and dispatch variability for hybrid plants.
  • Execute optimization schemes including Monte Carlo simulations to achieve the most optimized design.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, BD, and Construction teams to explore and implement innovative approaches.
  • Engage in conferences and industry networks to scout and adopt new ideas and innovations.
  • Support battery-related projects across the Vena platform from a technical perspective.

Qualification & Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering; Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in the renewable energy sector and minimum 2 years of role relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of recent developments in the battery industry.
  • Experience in handling at least one Storage/FDRE tender.
  • Proficiency in BMS and integration of battery and BMS with other systems like grid, solar and wind plants.
  • Ability to assess various configurations for hybrid plants.
  • Strong design thinking and Innovation mindset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proven critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
