Job Summary:

SQL and BigQuery Expert


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and optimize complex SQL queries for data transformation and reporting.
  • Develop and manage BigQuery data pipelines using native SQL, PL/SQL, and GCP services (e.g., Cloud Storage, Dataflow, Pub/Sub).
  • Work closely with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements.
  • Automate data ingestion and transformation workflows using

    scheduled queries

    or orchestration tools (e.g., Cloud Composer / Airflow).
  • Perform query

    performance tuning and troubleshoot latency

    issues in

    BigQuery

    .
  • Implement best practices for cost optimization, data partitioning, clustering, and access control.
  • Develop data marts and maintain semantic layers for BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI).
  • Ensure data quality, governance, and security standards are followed.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 8–9 years of experience in advanced SQL development and performance tuning.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of strong hands-on experience with

    Google BigQuery

    in a production environment.
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and best practices.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (GCP preferred; AWS/Azure is a plus).
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python or Shell.
  • Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD workflows for data projects.
  • Knowledge of LookerML or other BI integration with BigQuery is a plus.
  • Experience in working in Agile/Scrum environments.
