Role Description This is a full-time on-site role for a Lead Data Scientist, located in Pune. The Lead Data Scientist will be responsible for end-to-end ownership of AI/ML and Generative AI solutions, right from problem discovery to model deployment. This includes leading a team of data scientists, managing project delivery, and designing high-impact AI/ML systems. The role combines technical expertise in ML/GenAI, delivery ownership, and team leadership. The ideal candidate should be capable of building models using traditional and generative techniques, collaborating with cross-functional teams, engaging with clients, and enabling scalable solutions through best practices in MLOps and AI innovation. This individual will also play a key role in mentoring junior team members and contributing to solutioning in client pre-sales and delivery. Qualifications 8+ years of industry experience in data science, including 2+ years in a leadership capacity Strong background in Machine Learning, Deep Learning and Generative AI (e.g. LLM, SLM, RAG, LangChain, LanGraph) Hands-on expertise in Python and libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, XGBoost Experience deploying models to production with understanding of MLOps, API integration and CI/CD pipelines Proven track record of delivering complex projects across domains and working in agile environments Exposure to multi-agent systems, prompt engineering, and LLM-based workflows is a plus Ability to manage stakeholder expectations, scope technical delivery, and provide actionable insights Effective communicator with the ability to translate complex models into business impact Passionate about mentoring and growing high-performing data science teams Master’s or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field Experience in the technology, consulting, or automation industry is a strong plus
