Reports To: Head – Beneficiation Plant
Job Purpose
To lead and manage all electrical and instrumentation maintenance activities at the MTPA Beneficiation Plant, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations. The role requires strategic leadership in planning, execution, and team development to ensure maximum machine uptime and process integrity.
Key Responsibilities1. Strategic Leadership Lead the E&I maintenance function to align with plant goals and production targets.
Drive performance, capability enhancement, and succession planning for the E&I team.
Foster a high-performance culture focused on safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
2. Maintenance Planning & Execution Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for electrical equipment (e.g., power distribution systems, switchgear, motors, and control panels).
Lead instrumentation maintenance for process control systems, field instruments, and analyzers.
Ensure timely calibration, testing, and health checks of all instruments for accurate and reliable functioning.
3. Troubleshooting & Optimization Conduct regular audits and inspections to assess system health and identify opportunities for cost and efficiency improvements.
Respond swiftly to faults and breakdowns, ensuring minimum downtime and efficient root cause analysis.
4. Resource & Budget Management Plan and control the maintenance budget (CapEx and OpEx).
Coordinate with procurement and inventory teams to ensure the availability of critical spares and components.
Optimize spare parts consumption and lifecycle management of equipment.
5. Safety & Compliance Ensure full compliance with electrical safety regulations, SOPs, and industry best practices.
Monitor the implementation of safe work systems and isolation procedures.
Maintain audit readiness and compliance with statutory bodies.
Key Challenges Maintaining high equipment availability in a remote plant location.
Managing machine efficiency and MTTR in a logistically complex environment.
Preplanning and proactive risk mitigation due to geographical and operational constraints.
Decision-Making Authority Day-to-day coordination with plant operations for E&I maintenance scheduling and execution.
Operational decisions related to manpower allocation, spares consumption, and emergency response.
Recommendations on system upgrades, capital purchases, and technology interventions.
Cross-Functional Interactions
Internal:
Support Services, Plant Operations, Maintenance Planning, Procurement, Safety, and HR Teams.
External:
Contractors, OEMs, MDOs (Mine Developers and Operators), and Regulatory Authorities.
Dimensions i. Financial:
Responsible for the annual maintenance budget, cost control, and capex planning.
ii. Team Size:
As per organizational structure (E&I engineers, supervisors, and technicians).
Skills & Knowledge
Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institute.
Desirable Qualifications:
Advanced knowledge in industrial instrumentation and automation systems (PLCs, SCADA, DCS).
Experience:
15–20 years of relevant experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance in large-scale mining or process industries, with a proven track record in leadership roles.
Functional Skills:
Technical expertise in E&I systems
Familiarity with industrial automation and control systems
Understanding of safety standards and regulatory requirements
Proficiency in troubleshooting and continuous improvement methodologies
