Job Description

Job Summary:

The Hardware Engineer will design, develop, test, and validate electronic hardware systems for automotive and electric vehicle (EV) applications. The role includes working on circuit design, PCB layout, prototyping, testing, and supporting integration with embedded software and vehicle systems to deliver reliable, high-performance EV components and control systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electronic circuits for automotive and EV subsystems, such as Battery Management Systems (BMS), Motor Controllers, Vehicle Control Units (VCUs), On-board Chargers (OBCs), and related hardware.
  • Perform schematic capture, PCB layout design, component selection, and Bill of Materials (BOM) preparation.
  • Develop prototypes and test boards; conduct functional, thermal, and environmental testing as per automotive standards
  • Support design validation (DVT) and production validation (PVT) phases, including EMI/EMC compliance testing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software, mechanical, and manufacturing engineering, to ensure hardware-software integration and system reliability.
  • Support failure analysis, root cause identification, and corrective actions for hardware issues during development and field testing.
  • Document hardware design specifications, test plans, test reports, and release notes in line with company processes and automotive quality standards.
  • Assist in vendor coordination for PCB fabrication, assembly, and component sourcing.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE), or related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in hardware design for automotive/EV products preferred (freshers with strong projects or internships in this field may be considered for junior roles).
  • Proficiency in schematic design and PCB layout tools (e.g., Altium Designer, OrCAD, KiCad, Eagle).
  • Knowledge of analog and digital circuit design, microcontrollers, CAN/LIN/FlexRay communication protocols.
  • Understanding of EMC/EMI requirements, thermal management, and automotive environmental standards.
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment: oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, power supplies, etc.
  • Familiarity with FMEA, DFMEA, and functional safety principles is an advantage.
  • Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
