We're seeking a talented System Development Engineer (SDE) to help build media consumption devices using both open source and proprietary technologies. As a customer advocate, you'll own media technologies and quality end-to-end (E2E), working with internal and external partners to deliver best-in-class devices. Your responsibilities will include researching new technologies, developing tools, and defining processes for next-generation media stack development. You'll be involved in the research, design, implementation, documentation, and maintenance of new and existing systems, as well as creating software services and tools to enhance development quality. In this role, you'll implement and customize audio/video components within FireOS, driving development from concept to launch with the highest quality standards. Collaboration with application teams will be key as you design and develop multimedia initiatives and features. About the team The team manages FireOS/Android and Linux/GStreamer-based Multimedia/Streaming Framework Development. Our primary focus is implementing new features and enhancements within the Application/Middleware framework of various Media Player Engines, including Android, ExoPlayer, and our in-house Amazon Media Player. We work to meet the requirements of diverse product teams, encompassing Kindle Fire Tablets, Amazon FireTV, Amazon Echo, Amazon Music/Video, Alexa, and Smart Home devices. This cross-functional role involves collaborating with multiple teams to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of multimedia features across Amazon's wide range of consumer electronics and services.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting infrastructure
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
• Experience with Linux/Unix

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
