The Water Treatment Chemist is responsible for overseeing and managing the chemical treatment processes of water used within the industrial site. This includes monitoring water quality, performing chemical analysis, implementing water treatment protocols, and ensuring that all systems function efficiently to meet regulatory standards and company goals.
o Conduct routine chemical, physical, and biological tests on water samples.
o Monitor parameters like pH, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, chlorine levels, total dissolved solids (TDS), hardness, all water parameter for site etc.
o Analyse results and recommend corrective actions when deviations from standards occur.
o Develop, recommend, and implement chemical treatments for water purification, such as coagulation, flocculation, and disinfection.
o Adjust chemical dosages to optimize treatment processes and improve water quality.
o Handle hazardous chemicals safely and ensure proper storage and disposal.
o Maintain records of all water quality data and chemical usage.
o Prepare daily, weekly, or monthly reports detailing water quality status, treatment efficacy, and maintenance activities.
o Use software tools for data tracking and reporting.
o Identify and troubleshoot issues with water treatment systems.
o Propose and implement improvements to water treatment processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
o Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations and standards.
o Ensure water treatment processes meet all environmental regulations and health standards.
o Assist with environmental audits and prepare necessary documentation for regulatory inspections.
o Work with external agencies to ensure compliance with wastewater discharge permits and other environmental requirements.
o Oversee the maintenance of water treatment equipment, including filtration systems, pumps, and chemical dosing units.
o Coordinate with maintenance teams for troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance.
o Conduct routine calibration of equipment to ensure accuracy in measurements.
o Follow all safety protocols, especially when handling chemicals and equipment.
o Provide training to staff on safe water treatment practices and emergency procedures.
o Participate in safety drills and ensure adherence to safety standards on-site.
o Strong knowledge of water treatment chemistry and processes.
o Proficiency in water quality analysis methods and laboratory equipment.
o Familiarity with environmental regulations (EPA, OSHA, etc.).
o Analytical mind-set and attention to detail.
o Strong communication skills for reporting and teamwork.
o Water treatment or environmental certifications.
o First aid or safety training certifications.
Ability to work in an industrial setting with potential exposure to chemicals, noise, and varying temperatures.
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
· Comfort with standing for long periods and working in both indoor and outdoor environments.
· Industrial/plant setting with regular exposure to chemicals and heavy equipment.
· Potential for shift work or on-call availability depending on site requirements.
