Position Summary

The Project Manager will play a pivotal role in strengthening Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), promoting sustainable agricultural practices, and enhancing the participation of women farmers in agribusiness. This strategic role involves stakeholder engagement, capacity building, and driving inclusive rural development and climate-resilient agriculture.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Planning & Implementation

• Lead the design, planning, and execution of climate-resilient agriculture projects.
• Develop and implement strategies to boost FPO revenue, supply chains, and collective marketing.
• Establish market linkages with buyers, retailers, and government agencies.
• Align projects with regional and national climate adaptation policies.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and work plans.

• FPO Capacity Building

• Strengthen existing FPOs and support the formation of new ones.
• Guide on governance, management, and financial sustainability.
• Mobilize and empower women farmers within FPOs.
• Conduct training on entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and leadership.

• Promote awareness about FPO benefits and women’s roles in agribusiness.

• Sustainable Agriculture & Technology Adoption

• Encourage climate-resilient techniques, organic practices, and water conservation.
• Facilitate adoption of modern agri-technologies.

• Marketing & Sales Development

• Devise strategies to achieve sales targets (1080 MT/year).
• Build partnerships with buyers, wholesalers, and distributors.
• Support branding, packaging, and quality control of FPO products.

• Stakeholder Engagement

• Work closely with communities, NGOs, government bodies, and research institutions.
• Advocate for pro-agriculture policies at various levels.

• Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting

• Implement a monitoring framework to track outcomes.
• Prepare regular progress reports for stakeholders and donors.

• Resource Mobilization

• Identify funding opportunities and assist in proposal development.
• Manage project budgets to ensure optimal resource use.

• Knowledge Management & Innovation

• Organize workshops, field visits, and learning exchanges.
• Stay updated on climate-smart agriculture, FPO models, and agro-ecology.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

• Education:

• Graduate or Postgraduate in Rural Development, Agricultural Sciences, or Social Development

• Experience:

• 10+ years in Agri-Marketing, Value Chain Development, and FPO Management

• Skills:

• Proficient in project management tools and office software
• Excellent communication in English and Bengali/regional dialects
• Deep understanding of Agriculture, Marketing, and FPO models
• Strong marketing, outreach, leadership, and team management skills

Reporting Structure

• Reports To:

  Program Manager / Deputy General Manager (Kolkata)

• Team Size:

  6–8 professionals across various functions

Travel Requirements

Extensive field travel across project locations for implementation, monitoring, and stakeholder engagement.

Compensation

• Annual CTC: Upto

  ₹5 Lakhs per annum(Fixed)

• Additional Benefits:

  Variable Pay + Commitment Bonus

  (Compensation will be aligned with experience, qualifications, and current salary)
