Position Summary:
The Mechanical Engineer will select equipment & auxiliaries required for compressor packages, including sub-assemblies to support the Sundyne product lines. The Mechanical Engineer will be supporting multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working knowledge of rotating equipment like compressors, pumps, turbines, etc. and auxiliary support systems like dry gas seal systems, lube oil system, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, valves, filters, etc.
- Knowledge and interpretation of applicable industry standards (API-617, 692, 614, ASME Pressure Vessel Code, ASME Standards, AGMA, NACE, etc.)
- Review of customer order scope and technical specifications and datasheets
- Provide input into the design of the compressor/gearbox support systems; P&ID reviews, seal support systems, lubrication systems, noise attenuation, and compressor control
- Detailed engineering of compressor support systems in accordance with the latest API Standards (main & auxiliary drivers, heat exchangers, seal gas heaters, lube oil pumps, instruments, gages, surge control valves and systems, etc.)
- Provide input into the design of the compressor/gearbox support systems; P&ID reviews, seal support systems, lubrication systems, noise attenuation, and compressor control
- Create bills of material
- Provide direction to design/drafting resources
- Conduct pre-release design reviews
- Create and/or review and approve engineering drawings and documentation; seal gas and lube oil system data sheets, system layout drawings, build data sheets, quality/test reports, etc.
- Disposition non-conforming parts
- Provide engineering & troubleshooting support for assembly and testing activities
- Drive engineering excellence and continuous improvement, including the creation of Engineering Standard Work
- Stay abreast of new technology and adapt accordingly
- Assist Application Engineering and Sales in winning new business
- Manufacturing support, machine design, understanding of GD&T
- Provide consultation to Field Service for start-up/commissioning and troubleshooting
Technical/Functional Skills:
- Self-motivated and highly organized
- Excellent team player
Qualification & Experience:
- Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering
- 4-10 years of related engineering experience, including manufacturing, EPCs, and/or oil and gas industry
- Sound engineering judgment and decision-making skills
- Travel to domestic or international customer and supplier sites required on a limited basis. Includes kickoff meetings, design review meetings, and HAZOP meetings.
