Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Lathe Manufacturing Engineer to oversee and optimize the operation, programming, and process development of CNC and conventional lathe machines. The candidate will be responsible for improving productivity, ensuring part quality, and supporting production through robust machining processes and tooling.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and optimize CNC turning processes for precision components (tool paths, cycle time, surface finish, tolerance control).
• Create and modify CNC programs (Fanuc, Siemens, Mitsubishi, etc.) and validate first-off parts.
• Select appropriate tools, inserts, holders, and cutting conditions for turning operations.
• Conduct time studies and improve cycle time (CT) by adjusting RPM, feed rate, and depth of cut.
• Resolve machining issues including chatter, tool wear, runout, and dimension deviations.
• Collaborate with design, quality, and production teams to ensure manufacturability.
• Support new product development (NPD) by defining turning process plans and tooling.
• Implement best practices in workholding, tool life monitoring, and coolant management.
• Conduct root cause analysis for part defects and drive corrective actions.
• Support TPM and preventive maintenance schedules related to lathe equipment.
• Maintain detailed documentation (SOPs, process sheets, inspection reports).

Required Skills:

• In-depth knowledge of CNC lathe operations (2-axis to multi-axis, sliding head, etc.)
• Hands-on experience with insert grades, tool selection, and cutting data optimization.
• Knowledge of G-code, M-code, and CNC programming.
• Experience with process improvement tools (Lean, Kaizen, 5S, etc.)
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, GD&T, and tolerance stack-up.
• Familiarity with inspection methods using Vernier, Micrometer, CMM, etc.

Educational Qualification:

• Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or Production Engineering

Preferred Qualifications (Optional):

• Experience with Tsugami, Citizen, Star, or similar machines.
• Knowledge of CAM software (Espirit or Similar)
• Exposure to automation in turning (robot loading, bar feeder, etc.)
• Knowledge of ERP systems for job routing and tool tracking.
