Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and visionary academic leader to serve as the Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department in our Polytechnic College. The ideal candidate will lead departmental planning, faculty development, curriculum enhancement, and ensure academic excellence through hands-on technical learning, industry integration, and student success initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:Academic & Departmental Leadership

• Lead the planning and implementation of Mechanical Engineering diploma curriculum
• Ensure effective delivery of academic programs aligned with DOTE and AICTE standards
• Prepare departmental academic calendar, workload distribution, and laboratory schedules
• Supervise theory and practical sessions, ensuring effective teaching-learning processes

Faculty & Staff Development

• Mentor and evaluate faculty members, promote best teaching practices
• Organize technical workshops, industrial visits, seminars, and faculty development programs
• Promote continuous learning and upskilling among staff in line with emerging industry trends

Laboratory & Infrastructure Management

• Maintain and upgrade Mechanical Engineering laboratories (e.g., Thermal, CAD/CAM, Workshop)
• Propose new equipment, tools, and infrastructure for skill-based learning and safety compliance

Student Support & Technical Excellence

• Monitor student performance, attendance, and disciplinary issues
• Guide students in projects, internships, competitions (e.g., mini vehicles, design challenges)
• Coordinate remedial classes and promote employability skills, certifications, and placements

Industry Engagement & Collaborations

• Build partnerships with manufacturing and engineering industries for internships, guest lectures, and campus placements
• Organize value-added training, industry-relevant workshops, and MoUs with technical bodies

Accreditation & Compliance

• Prepare documentation and lead departmental efforts for AICTE, NBA, and DOTE inspections
• Maintain records and reports related to academics, student feedback, and quality improvement

Required Qualifications:

• Educational: B.E./B.Tech and M.E./M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering with First Class (both degrees)
• Experience: Minimum 10 years of teaching experience in Polytechnic or Engineering College
• At least 3 years in a leadership or senior academic role
• Preferred: Experience in handling NBA Accreditation, knowledge of Outcome-Based Education (OBE)
• Desirable: Ph.D. or industrial experience in mechanical/automotive/manufacturing sectors
