Role Description We’re looking for a highly skilled Freelance Scala & Spark Developer to support us in debugging, enhancing, and testing our existing data processing codebase. The ideal candidate is experienced in working with Scala, Apache Spark, and IntelliJ IDEA, with a strong focus on debugging and writing unit tests. Key Responsibilities Analyze and understand an existing Scala and Spark-based codebase using IntelliJ Debug issues and identify performance bottlenecks in Spark jobs Write clean, maintainable Scala code to enhance existing functionality Develop and maintain unit tests to ensure code quality and prevent regressions Collaborate with team members to understand business logic and data pipelines Required Skills Strong hands-on experience with Scala programming Deep understanding of Apache Spark for distributed data processing Proficiency with IntelliJ IDEA for development and debugging Experience writing unit tests using frameworks like ScalaTest or Specs2 Ability to quickly understand and debug complex codebases Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with sbt, Akka, or Play Framework Experience optimizing Spark jobs for performance and scalability Background in big data ecosystems (e.g., Hadoop, Hive, Parquet) Show more Show less
