export merchandiser's role is to manage the entire process of fulfilling export orders, acting as a crucial link between buyers and the production team. They coordinate all aspects of an order, from initial communication and costing to production, quality control, and final shipment, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to buyer specifications. Key Responsibilities:Order Management:Planning and executing all stages of an export order, including sampling, costing, production, quality control, and shipment. Communication & Coordination:Liaising with buyers to understand their requirements and preferences, and coordinating with various internal teams (design, production, quality assurance, etc.) to ensure smooth order execution. Sourcing & Sampling:Identifying and sourcing appropriate materials and trims, and managing the sampling process to meet buyer specifications. Costing & Pricing:Calculating garment prices based on material costs, manufacturing costs, and other expenses, and negotiating prices with buyers. Quality Control:Implementing quality control procedures throughout the production process to ensure products meet the required standards and buyer specifications. Documentation & Compliance:Preparing and reviewing necessary export documentation, such as invoices and packing lists, and ensuring compliance with international regulations. Shipping & Logistics:Coordinating with freight forwarders and carriers to arrange timely shipment of goods and monitoring shipment schedules. Relationship Management:Building and maintaining strong relationships with both buyers and suppliers. Market Awareness:Staying updated on market trends, consumer behavior, and industry best practices. Essential Skills:Communication and Negotiation:Excellent verbal and written communication skills are crucial for interacting with buyers, suppliers, and internal teams. Analytical and Problem-Solving:Ability to analyze data, identify potential issues, and develop effective solutions. Organizational and Time Management:Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Product Knowledge:Understanding of garment construction, materials, and manufacturing processes. Technical Skills:Proficiency in relevant software and tools, including MS Office suite and potential experience with ERP systems. Teamwork and Collaboration:Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with various departments. Education and Experience:A bachelor's degree in a related field, such as merchandising, business administration, or textile management, is often preferred. Relevant experience in export merchandising or related roles, particularly within the apparel or fashion industry, is highly valued. In essence, an export merchandiser is a key player in the export process, ensuring that products are produced efficiently, meet quality standards, and are delivered on time to international buyers.
