Job Description

A Business Development Executive (BDE) in the solar energy sector plays a vital role in driving growth, expanding market presence, and building strong relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders. Here are the key roles and responsibilities for this position: Core Responsibilities 1. Lead Generation & Client Acquisition Identify and approach potential customers (residential, commercial, industrial). Develop and manage a sales pipeline of qualified leads. Conduct cold calls, emails, and in-person meetings to pitch solar solutions. 2. Market Research & Strategy Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences. Identify new business opportunities, market segments, and geographic areas for expansion. Develop go-to-market strategies and plans for solar product/service offerings. 3. Sales & Revenue Growth Meet or exceed sales targets (monthly/quarterly/yearly). Negotiate contracts, pricing, and project terms with clients. Coordinate with technical teams to prepare proposals, quotations, and tenders. 4. Customer Relationship Management Build long-term relationships with key clients and partners. Ensure high customer satisfaction and resolve any post-sale issues. Follow up with clients for feedback, referrals, and repeat business. 5. Collaboration & Coordination Work closely with engineering, installation, and project management teams. Liaise with vendors, consultants, and government agencies for project approvals or partnerships. Support marketing campaigns, exhibitions, and outreach programs. 6. Reporting & Documentation Maintain accurate records of sales activities, proposals, and client interactions. Provide regular reports to management on sales performance, forecasts, and strategic insights. Preferred Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, engineering, or a related field. 2–5 years of experience in business development or sales, ideally in the renewable energy sector. Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Familiarity with solar PV systems, net metering policies, and energy regulations. Proficiency in CRM tools and MS Office Suite. Success Indicators Increase in customer base and solar installations. High conversion rates from leads to closed deals. Growth in revenue from solar projects. Strong client satisfaction and repeat business.
