We are seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator (Azure) to join our team supporting a prestigious client engagement. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in SQL Server and Azure-based database environments. You will be responsible for ensuring the performance, integrity, and security of SQL databases hosted both on-premises and in the cloud. This role will closely collaborate with development, operations, and cloud engineering teams to drive performance optimization and modernization efforts.

Key Responsibilities
Administer and maintain SQL Server databases (2016/2019) across development, QA, and production environments.
Deploy, manage, and optimize databases in Microsoft Azure, including Azure SQL Database, SQL Managed Instance, and IaaS SQL workloads.
Ensure high availability, performance tuning, and security of SQL environments.
Design and implement backup, restore, disaster recovery (DR), and high-availability (HA) strategies including AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, and Log Shipping.
Monitor performance using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Query Store, and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks.
Support development teams with query optimization, index tuning, and stored procedure refactoring.
Lead and support on-premise to Azure SQL migrations and other cloud modernization initiatives.
Automate administrative tasks using PowerShell, T-SQL, or equivalent scripting languages.
Maintain clear documentation of configurations, standards, and SLAs.
Required Skills
7–10 years of experience as a SQL Server DBA.
Proven experience with Azure-based SQL deployments and cloud database management.
Strong hands-on knowledge of T-SQL, query tuning, and database performance optimization.
Experience with HA/DR setups including AlwaysOn, clustering, and replication technologies.
Familiarity with Azure security, RBAC, and the Azure portal.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Good to Have
Experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, or Azure Data Lake.
Familiarity with DevOps pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
Microsoft Certifications (e.g., Azure Database Administrator Associate) are a plus.
