Job Title: Mines Manager – Cement Industry
Department: Mining Operations
Location: Across Various Locations in India
Reports To: Head of Mining Operations / Plant Head
About the Role: As a Mines Manager, you will play a critical role in overseeing mining operations to support cement production. This role demands a strong understanding of mining processes, safety and environmental compliance, and effective leadership to ensure smooth operations across multiple sites. Key Responsibilities: Oversee day-to-day mining operations, including drilling, blasting, excavation, hauling, and dispatch.
Develop and execute short-term and long-term mining plans aligned with production targets.
Ensure strict compliance with DGMS guidelines, safety, health, and environmental regulations.
Lead and supervise mining teams, contractors, and equipment operators to meet productivity goals.
Conduct regular risk assessments, hazard identification, and implement control measures.
Collaborate with plant management, logistics, and quality control teams to optimize processes.
Manage resources, including equipment, manpower, spares, and consumables, to drive operational efficiency.
Monitor and control costs, ensuring mining operations are within the set budget and timelines.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives for process optimization, cost reduction, and safety enhancements.
Prepare and maintain comprehensive reports on production, safety, environmental compliance, and statutory submissions.
Handle regulatory audits, inspections, and maintain strong relationships with statutory bodies.
Experience Required:5–10 years of relevant experience in mining operations within the cement industry.
Proven track record of managing open-cast mining operations.
Hands-on experience in ensuring statutory, safety, and environmental compliance.
Strong experience in leading, mentoring, and managing large teams.
Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent (Mandatory).
Master’s Degree in Mining Management (Preferred).
Certification (Mandatory):Mines Manager Certificate of Competency (Unrestricted) issued by DGMS (Mandatory).
First-Class Mines Manager Certificate (Preferred).
Technical Skills: Deep understanding of mining operations, quarry management, and heavy mining equipment (HME).
Proficient in mine planning and scheduling software (e.g., Surpac, MineScape, Datamine).
Knowledge of explosive handling, blasting techniques, and safety standards.
Strong grasp of statutory requirements under Mines Act, MMR, and DGMS regulations.
Experience with cost control, resource planning, and operational budgeting.

Possession of a valid Mines Manager Certificate (Unrestricted) is mandatory.
