Job Title: Project Manager – Special Purpose Machine (SPM)
Department: Special Purpose Machine Development
Reports To: Head of SPM / Engineering Manager
Job Purpose: The Project Manager – Special Purpose Machine is responsible for the execution of projects in accordance with internal standards IN ZS 06018 (SPM development process) and P173200-20 (project management in SPM construction). This role oversees the complete project lifecycle, ensuring successful delivery on quality, cost, timeline, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities: Lead and execute projects following IN ZS 06018 and P173200-20 standards.
Achieve project goals related to scope, quality, cost, and timeline.
Regularly report on project status and progress both verbally and in writing.
Apply structured project management methods and tools effectively.
Provide technical leadership to cross-functional project teams.
Develop initial concepts and participate in concept clarification with customers.
Contribute to the preparation of quotations and cost estimations.
Conduct necessary calculations, feasibility studies, and testing.
Create layouts, drafts, and 3D CAD models for designs.
Detail designs and prepare parts lists (BOMs) for procurement and production.
Manage the selection of suppliers for mechanical components.
Review, monitor, and control design documents and engineering deliverables.
Prepare risk assessments, process descriptions, and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Take ownership of fluid plans (pneumatic, hydraulic) and ensure accuracy.
Act as a technical point of contact post-delivery for troubleshooting and support.
Serve as a mentor and trainer for employees within the SPM domain.
Ensure compliance with engineering standards, work instructions, and processes.
Drive continuous improvement (MOVE) initiatives within assigned projects.
Manage interfaces and ensure coordination with other departments, including manufacturing, procurement, and quality.
Required Skills & Experience:5+ years of experience in special purpose machine design, project management, or similar.
Proven experience in mechanical design, project execution, and cross-functional leadership.
Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and engineering processes.
Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Siemens NX, AutoCAD) for design and modeling.
Familiarity with risk management, supplier selection, and mechanical component sourcing.
Strong understanding of fluid systems (hydraulic/pneumatic) design and control.
Ability to handle complex technical challenges and deliver customer-focused solutions.
Education Qualification: Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or related fields.
