Job Title: General Manager - Operations (Ferro Alloys) Overall Responsibility: To strategically lead and manage all operational aspects of the ferro-alloys production unit to ensure efficient, safe, and cost-effective production of high-quality ferro-alloys, aligning with the overall goals of the integrated steel plant. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership and Planning: Develop and implement the operational strategy for the ferro-alloys division in alignment with the plant's overall strategic objectives. Formulate long-term and short-term operational plans, including production targets, resource allocation, and process improvements. Production Management: Oversee all stages of ferro-alloy production, from raw material input to the dispatch of finished goods. Ensure production targets are met while maintaining quality standards and optimizing resource utilization. Monitor production performance, analyze deviations, and implement corrective actions. Efficiency and Optimization: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve productivity. Identify and implement process optimization and technological upgrades in the ferro-alloys plant. Quality Control: Establish and maintain robust quality control systems to ensure the ferro-alloys produced meet the required specifications and quality standards. Monitor quality parameters and take necessary actions to address any quality issues. Safety and Environment: Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and environmental compliance within the ferro-alloys operations. Promote a strong safety culture and implement safety protocols to prevent accidents. Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and develop the operations team within the ferro-alloys division. Set performance expectations, provide feedback, and conduct performance appraisals. Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Budget and Cost Control: Manage the budget for the ferro-alloys operations, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to financial targets. Identify opportunities for cost reduction without compromising quality or safety. Liaison and Coordination: Coordinate with other departments within the integrated steel plant, such as raw materials, maintenance, quality control, and sales/marketing, to ensure smooth operations. Interact with external stakeholders as required. Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and present regular reports on the performance of the ferro-alloys operations to senior management. Analyze operational data to identify trends and areas for improvement. Qualifications and Experience (General Expectations): Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. A Master's degree would be advantageous. Significant experience (typically 10-15+ years) in ferro-alloys production, with a progressive increase in responsibilities and leadership roles. Strong technical knowledge of ferro-alloy manufacturing processes, furnace operations (e.g., submerged arc furnaces), and related equipment. Proven leadership and team management skills. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities. Strong understanding of safety and environmental regulations relevant to the industry. Financial acumen and budgeting experience.
