Director of Software Engineering

We are urgently seeking applications for Director of Engineering position for our client, a leading financial institution of India. A dynamic leadership opportunity for a seasoned technology executive with 22+ years of experience. This role is ideal for a professional with at least 10 years in enterprise application development leadership, expert in Java technologies, microservices , and modern engineering practices . Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership: Drive product design, development, and delivery of secure, reliable, and scalable enterprise applications. Make technology decisions and control overall product quality. Process & Innovation: Champion and enhance Software Engineering processes and best practices. Promote innovation through Centres of Excellence and rigorous project governance. Project & Team Management: Oversee project planning, risk management, and stakeholder communication. Provide timely performance feedback and mentor direct reports to maximize their potential. Produce periodic and ad-hoc reports for senior leadership. Governance & Compliance: Ensure adherence to SDLC methodologies (Waterfall/Agile), secure software development practices, and relevant frameworks (CMMi, ITIL). Required Experience & Skills Must have 22+ years of experience working in an ITES/ Software Product Company. Technical Expertise: Proven experience in developing and implementing enterprise-class applications. Deep knowledge of the Java technology stack, microservices, RESTful services, CI/CD, DevOps, and cloud architectures. Familiarity with secure software development lifecycle and security best practices. Process & Management: Expertise in project estimation, planning (using tools like Microsoft Project), risk management, and quantitative project management. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills. Preferred Background: Experience in the banking domain or with IT captives of MNC Banks/IT product companies is an advantage. Certifications PMP, PgMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent is required. Additional technology-specific and Agile certifications are preferred.
