Karghewale partners with young weaving entrepreneurs across India to build sustainable,
transparent, and equitable textile value chains. Our clusters span Maheshwar, Chanderi,
Kutch, Bhagalpur, and weaving belts of West Bengal. We work closely with artisans,
designers, and sourcing teams to co-create high-quality handwoven textiles for domestic and
international markets.
We are looking for a creative and process-oriented Designer cum Merchandiser to be based
out of Jaipur with . This person will play a pivotal role in design development, collection
ideation, and stakeholder engagement across multiple craft clusters. The ideal candidate
should be well-versed in CAD design for both print and weave, and comfortable liaising
with clients, production partners, and artisans to translate creative direction into tangible
outputs.
Additionally, the role will require vendor identification, verification, onboarding, and
management for downstream value-added services (such as hand-printing, embroidery, and
garmenting), which are essential to Karghewale’s full-stack sourcing model. The role will
also involve semi-frequent travel to Maheshwar, and periodic travel to Kutch and other
clusters as needed.
• Develop CADs for both weaving and printing, with clear specifications for loom or
print execution
• Collaborate with buyers and internal teams to brainstorm and conceptualize new
collections
• Translate mood boards, trend inputs, and briefs into design files
• Co-develop designs with artisans and cluster coordinators across Maheshwar, Kutch,
West Bengal, etc.
• Assist in sampling coordination, approvals, and revisions
• Identify, verify, and onboard vendors for downstream services like embroidery, hand-
printing, and garmenting — primarily in Jaipur and Kutch, and occasionally in Indore
and Delhi
• Manage vendor relationships and workflows to ensure quality and timely execution of
full-stack concept to fabric to garment / final product orders
• Maintain digital design library and design documentation
• Work closely with the merchandising team to align product development with client
requirements and timelines.
• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Textile Design, Fashion Design, or a related field
• 2–5 years of experience in textile CAD (weaving and printing)
• Proficiency in software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and
NedGraphics/Pointcarre/ArahWeave (weave CAD)
• Experience in design development with craft clusters or handmade production is
preferred
• Strong aesthetic sense and awareness of textile trends
• Excellent communication and coordination skills
Preferred Background:
• Experience in design-led export houses, sustainable fashion brands, or artisan
enterprises
• Familiarity with Jaipur’s textile ecosystem and sourcing landscape
• Exposure to international textile and fashion trends.
Ranging from Rs. 35000-60,000 commensurate with experience and industry standards for
mission-driven design enterprises.
