CAD Design Engineer

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented CAD Design Engineer within 1-5 years of experience to contribute to the mechanical design of advanced battery systems for drones and aerospace platforms. This is a hands-on role focused on delivering high quality designs optimized for manufacturing, assembly and long term reliability.

Responsibilities

-Battery Packaging Design: Design robust and thermally aware enclosures for battery systems, ensuring mechanical integrity, serviceability, and integration with electronics.

-Component Design & Prototyping: Develop 3D models and drawings for plastic and sheet metal components. Support rapid prototyping and design iterations.

-Assembly Fixture Design: Design jigs and fixtures to streamline battery assembly, improve accuracy, and reduce human error on the production line.

-TAG Time Optimization: Analyze and reduce Tooling, Assembly, and Gauge time through design simplification, efficient part handling, and assembly process improvements.

-Design Documentation: Establish and maintain CAD standards, revision, control, and documentation practices aligned with ISO 9000.

-Production- Ready Drawings: Prepare GD& T-compliant 2D drawings with appropriate tolerances, material specifications, and process notes for suppliers and in-house manufacturing.

-Cost Optimization: Engineer solutions with a focus on minimizing BOM cost while ensuring performance and safety requirements,

-CAD Tools: Use SolidWorks extensively for part modeling, assemblies and drawings. Familiarity with PDM systems is preferred.

-Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with electrical, thermal and embedded teams to ensure seamless integration across subsystems.

Qualifications

-Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

-3-6 years of experience in CAD design, preferably in battery systems, automotive, aerospace, or consumer electronics.

-Hands-on proficiency with SolidWorks, 3D modeling, and 2D drafting with GD&T standards.

-Experience in plastic injection moulding and sheet metal design and prototyping.

-Strong understanding of fixture design for assembly and TAG time optimization strategies.

-Working knowledge of ISO 9000 documentation and revision control systems.

-Exposure to DFM/DFA, tolerance stack-up analysis, and basic thermal or structural simulation is a plus.
