Role & Responsibilities Design and execute automated functional, contract, and regression tests for REST and SOAP APIs. Develop test suites in Postman/Newman and REST Assured, integrating them with Jenkins pipelines. Create data-driven test cases using JSON/XML payloads and validate responses against Swagger/OpenAPI specs. Monitor API performance, capture logs, and raise detailed defects with reproducible steps and traces. Collaborate with developers and DevOps to triage issues, advise on root-cause, and harden CI/CD gates. Document test strategy, coverage metrics, and best practices; mentor junior testers on automation standards. Skills & Qualifications Must-Have 3+ years focused on API testing in Agile/Scrum teams. Hands-on with Postman/Newman, REST Assured or similar frameworks. Strong knowledge of HTTP, JSON, XML, OAuth, and microservices architecture. Proficiency in Java or JavaScript for scripting automated tests. Experience querying relational databases (SQL) for test data and verification. Working understanding of Jenkins/Git and defect-tracking tools like JIRA. Preferred Exposure to performance testing using JMeter or Gatling. Knowledge of contract testing tools such as Pact.
