Summary:

Manages a team of intermediate or experienced professionals in Design Engineering. Guides the preparation of designs and working plans, creates designs for reviews, and coordinates with engineering staff and other organizations regarding design engineering activities.

Role Purpose:

  • To lead a team of design engineers and support in new product development and sustaining projects.

  • Grow the technical abilities in the team.

  • Work with different stakeholders, establish a good working relationship and drive engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and technically support the design team in design concepts for new products.

  • In-depth experience in CAD tools such as Creo/Solid works is expected.

  • Strong Knowledge and application of GD&T including Tolerance stack-up analysis

  • Basic knowledge of structural, vibration and flow analysis.

  • As a program manager, manage and deliver multiple new product development or sustaining programs.

  • Oversee project work allocation and performance to ensure quality.

  • Motivate and coach the team to operational success.

  • Lead the team in new product development projects and ensure quality and ontime delivery of the programs

  • Set department objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports..

  • Proven experience in managing cross functional teams i.e. Design, Engineering and manufacturing for development of new product, cost reduction and sustaining engineering activities.

  • Support CAE teams

  • Develop good working relationships with onsite global teams.

  • Able to work effectively with cross functional teams.

  • Take ownership for team cohesion .

  • Is resilient, influential, optimistic and open to change

  • high communication and interpersonal skills

  • Be willing to travel between locations for business needs.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical with at least 14 years of experience in product design and development.

  • Experience in managing design teams for at least 5-6 years.

  • Experience with HVAC industry is a plus

  • Experience in Six Sigma & tools or equivalent.
